The hotel or chain decides which settings are visible in each mode and what their default values are. Each user then decides whether they work in Easy or Pro Mode.
How it works
Every setting saved in the tool (filters, views, frames, widgets) can be controlled per module. For each setting there are three things:
Default value â the value a user starts with.
Visible in Easy Mode â whether users in Easy Mode see and can change the setting.
Visible in Pro Mode â whether users in Pro Mode see and can change the setting.
The value a user actually gets is resolved in layers. A lower layer overrides the one above it, as long as the setting is visible:
Chain default â only for hotels in a chain, and only for settings that can be set chain-wide.
Hotel default â set per hotel.
User default â the user's own choice, saved when they change the setting in the tool.
Hidden means enforced. If a setting is hidden in the mode a user is working in, the user cannot change it and always gets the hotel (or chain) default. For example, if a filter on an Intelligence page is hidden in Easy Mode, Easy Mode users see the page with the hotel's default filter and cannot change it.
Settings are available per module, including Pricing (Full, Table, Calendar, Compact and Hybrid View, frames and the frame editor), Intelligence (Market Positioning and PMS data analytics pages), Reputation (review filters) and Push settings. A page only appears in Pro Settings if both the hotel and the user have access to it.
Setting up Easy and Pro Mode for a hotel
The configuration lives in Settings â Hotel â Pro Settings: app.hotellistat.com/settings/hotel/pro-settings. Settings are grouped by module. For each setting the page shows these columns:
Column | What it does |
Chain Default | Shown only if the hotel belongs to a chain. Sets a value and visibility for all hotels in the chain. |
Hotel Default | The default value and visibility for this hotel. Dimmed and marked "set by chain" when the chain controls it. |
User Default | The current user's own value. If empty, the inherited value is shown dimmed. "Reset" removes the user's value so the default applies again. |
To configure a module:
Open Pro Settings and go to the module.
Set the hotel default value for each setting.
Choose whether the setting is visible in Easy Mode and in Pro Mode.
Save. Users who have not changed the setting themselves get the new default right away.
Editing hotel defaults requires the right to change the hotel's base settings.
Chain level
For hotel chains, selected settings can be set once for the whole chain. The chain value replaces the hotel default in every hotel of the chain, and users can still override it unless the chain hides the setting. Per row you can:
set visibility to inherit, show or hide;
Remove from chain, so each hotel's own default applies again;
Apply to all chain users, which clears users' own values for that setting so everyone gets the chain value.
Only settings with fixed options can be set on chain level; settings that depend on hotel-specific data (for example a hotel's own compset or rate codes) stay at hotel level. Editing the chain requires the base-settings right on every hotel in the chain.
Switching Pro Mode on or off as a user
Each user can be allowed to choose their own mode. There are two ways to switch:
User settings: Settings â User â System, app.hotellistat.com/settings/user/system, toggle Pro Mode on or off.
User menu: click your profile in the upper right corner of the tool and toggle Pro Mode there.
With Pro Mode off, the user works in Easy Mode. The switch only affects that user; it does not change the hotel's defaults or what other users see.
FAQ
A user can't change a filter or widget. Why? The setting is hidden in the mode they are using, so the hotel or chain default is enforced. Either make it visible for that mode in Pro Settings, or have the user switch to Pro Mode if it is visible there.
I changed the hotel default, but a user still sees their old value. The user has their own value saved, which overrides the default. Use "Reset" in the User Default column, or on chain level "Apply to all chain users".
A page doesn't show up in Pro Settings. Pages only appear if both the hotel and the user have access to that module.
Do room categories and rate codes look different in Easy Mode? No. The edit screens for room categories and rate codes show all fields in both modes.
