Derivation Wizard

This wizard helps you to build a derivation

Updated over 5 months ago

To build a new derivation, please navigate to Settings > PMS > Derivations

Click "+ Create your first derivation" if there is not yet a derivation, or "+ Create derivation" if there are one or more derivations already set up.

You will get a choice whether you want to use the wizard or start from scratch, which means you will begin with an empty canvas.

If you choose the wizard, first enter a name for the derivation.

The wizard shows 4 steps.

Step 1 - Basic Information

  • Derivation Name – as in the start, this can still be edited here.

  • Base Rate Code – choose the Rate Code where the price will be set, and from which other potential rate codes will be derived.

  • Pricing Approach – 2 options are possible:

    • One Price – Define a base rate with room categories and easily add derived rate codes based on fixed surcharges.

    • Per Category – Set individual rates or use fixed surcharges per room category, and add derived rate codes based on fixed surcharges. This option eliminates one step and is the preferred option for Room Recommendations.

Step 2 - Define supplements, categories, and persons

Note: This step is only available in "One Price" mode.

  • First, select the room categories you want in the derivation for this rate.

  • In the second part, you can define the supplement from the previous room category. You can add, subtract, multiply, or divide the previous category price.

  • You can also define the occupancy prices for every category. This price will be added to (or subtracted from, multiplied by, or divided by) the room category prices. The number of pax shown depends on the maximum pax in the room category setup.

Step 3 - Add derived rate codes

Step 2 for option "per category"

  • Choose the rate codes you want to derive from the rate code selected in Step 1. You can select multiple rate codes if needed and click Next.

Step 4 - Deriving from base rate code

Step 3 for option "per category"

  • In the 4th and final step, you can configure the derivation from the base rate code.

  • Select "Bulk Select" to change the derivation for multiple rate codes at once. If you change it for one rate code, all selected with the bulk option will be set to the same derivation.

  • Enter a test value to see what the calculation would be if this price were set at the entry node level.

  • You can add seasons here. Please see the article about the derivation editor to learn more about seasons and the editor.

  • When clicking Finish, you can set a minimum rate for the entry node. This rate will then be calculated according to the derivation for all nodes.

  • Your derivation is now complete.

  • You can continue editing or tweaking it in the editor and save when you are done (or save it directly if you are satisfied).
